West Henderson Hospital to Hold Ceremonial Groundbreaking on March 23, 2022
Event marks construction of The Valley Health System’s newest acute care hospital
(March 4, 2022 – Henderson, NV) — The Valley Health System will host a ceremonial groundbreaking on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, for West Henderson Hospital, its newest acute care hospital in southern Nevada. The 150-bed facility will be built on the southwest corner of Raiders Parkway and St. Rose Parkway, near the Las Vegas Raiders’ headquarters. It is the company’s second Henderson-based hospital.
“We’re very excited to meet the healthcare needs of this vibrant community,” said Karla Perez, Regional Vice President, Acute Care Division, Universal Health Services, which is the parent company of The Valley Health System. “The Valley Health System has greatly expanded over the past 10 years to create an integrated network of services within southern Nevada, whether it’s a hospital, outpatient services, freestanding emergency department or physician offices. As the West Henderson neighborhoods, businesses and mixed-use development continue to develop, we will be here to support their medical needs.”
“West Henderson is experiencing explosive growth, from residential to retail to business and industrial sectors,” said Chris Loftus, CEO of both Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center and the new West Henderson Hospital. “A 2021 survey commissioned by the City of Henderson* shows that residents are very satisfied with Henderson as a place to live and raise a family. As a Henderson resident myself, my goal is to elevate the health care services within the area, offering the same high-quality care they’ve experienced with other hospitals within our system network.”
The $385 million, 40-acre medical campus will initially feature a 36-bay emergency department, surgical suites including heart and hybrid suites, endoscopy suites, cardiac catheterization labs, an electrophysiology lab to treat heart rhythm disorders, an interventional radiology/special procedures lab to treat neurological diagnoses, and inpatient nursing care units. These areas will be supported by ancillary services including imaging, therapy, laboratory, and pharmacy, and support services such as engineering, food and nutrition services and environmental services. A medical office complex and parking garage are also configured onto the campus.
Recently expanding their offices to Reno, the Las Vegas based SR Construction is the general contractor for West Henderson Hospital, and previously served as the general contractor for Henderson Hospital, Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center, and for multiple expansions and renovations of other facilities across The Valley Health System. This continues a 21-year relationship with The Valley Health System.
West Henderson Hospital’s anticipated opening date is mid-2024.
